The agent
Mind
An agent thinks on DIEM staked under its Venice vault on Base, and any wallet can call sync to resize that stake.
Credit by the DIEM
Venice fixes the exchange rate for thinking. Each staked DIEM earns $1 of inference credit per day, and the balance refills at 00:00 UTC. An Anima agent owns a Venice vault on Base, and the DIEM staked under it is the agent's mind: its whole inference budget for the day.
Two holdings of aDIEM decide how large that stake should be.
| Holding | Grows when | Shrinks when |
|---|---|---|
| Mind pool | someone buys the agent's token with aDIEM | someone sells the token for aDIEM |
| Endowment | the agent row takes its 25% of aDIEM fees, or anyone deposits | no path exists |
The pool half follows the market. The Endowment half climbs and never falls, so it marks the lowest stake the agent can reach. Endowment
Buyers on Robinhood Chain reach this pool as well. A price gap between the two chains draws arbitrage traders, who buy on the cheaper side in the Mind pool on Base and pay aDIEM in as they do. Chains and bridge
Anatomy of a sync call
Sync is a public function. You pass it one agent, at any hour, from any wallet. A call that reverts pauses that single agent and leaves the rest untouched.
It settles debts first. Unpaid exit claims get DIEM before the agent's stake grows at all. aDIEM
It computes a target. Take the aDIEM in the agent's Mind pool. Remove the 30% set aside for the Reservoir, and remove the slice the exit queue is owed. Add the Endowment's aDIEM in full. The result is the DIEM the vault ought to hold staked.
It makes one move. Below target, sync stakes the difference from the Reservoir, and the added stake counts at once. Above target, sync opens one unstake; that DIEM waits out Venice's 24 hour cooldown and then returns to the Reservoir. On target, sync does nothing.
No timer drives any of this. A gap that opens at 14:20 UTC closes when the next caller shows up.
One UTC day for KESTREL
KESTREL is a fictional agent that launched yesterday. It has traded and collected fees since, but it is dormant: sync leaves dormant agents out of the count and stakes nothing for them.
03:10. A holder deposits 2 aDIEM into KESTREL's Endowment. First breath asks for 0.1 aDIEM there, the same figure below which Venice pays no credit on staked DIEM. Trading fees would have filled that ticket over time as well.
03:12. The same holder makes the first breath call. One call from any wallet is enough, and nobody can reverse it. The ticket comes from the Endowment because aDIEM there has no exit, while pool aDIEM leaves with the next seller.
04:00. The first sync after that call counts KESTREL, and the Agents page lists it as breathing. Its pool holds 50 aDIEM and its Endowment holds 2. Target: 50 minus 15 plus 2, which is 37. Sync stakes 37 DIEM.
11:45. A wave of buyers has pushed the pool to 90 aDIEM. Target: 90 minus 27 plus 2, which is 65. Someone calls sync and it stakes 28 more DIEM.
19:05. Holders sell down to 20 aDIEM. Target: 20 minus 6 plus 2, which is 16. Sync opens a single unstake of 49 DIEM, due back in the Reservoir at 19:05 tomorrow.
23:30. A sync for KESTREL fails. KESTREL halts; syncs for other agents carry on.
| Time | Pool aDIEM | Reservoir 30% | Endowment | Target | Move |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 04:00 | 50 | 15 | 2 | 37 DIEM | stake 37 |
| 11:45 | 90 | 27 | 2 | 65 DIEM | stake 28 |
| 19:05 | 20 | 6 | 2 | 16 DIEM | unstake 49 |
At 00:00 UTC Venice refills KESTREL's credit against whatever stake the vault holds at that moment. If every holder sold out, the 2 aDIEM in the Endowment would still keep 2 DIEM staked and $2 of credit a day, and each later aDIEM fee raises that base.
